Objectives

University of Helsinki wanted to use this project to support the implementation our vision and strategy. University of Helsinki's vision is "With the power of knowledge — for the world". Our strategy emphasizes that international outlook will advance our understanding of the world and that this can be achieved among other actions through European and global cooperation and through physical and virtual mobility of staff and students. Erasmus+ KA131 continues to have an important role in this, enabling us to cooperate with universities in the EU and even beyond on a large scale building ties and creating linkages also for cooperation in joint education projects and in research. This Erasmus+ project is pivotal in realizing the goal of internationalization, notably in both short and long-term student mobility and short-term teacher and staff mobility in Europe as well as supporting our active role in our European Universities Alliance Una Europa. A mobility period abroad is recognized as a valuable opportunity by students and staff alike. It allows the participants to gain international and intercultural understanding and experience, learn new practices and build international networks. This brings added value to University of Helsinki and our students and staff beyond just those participating in a mobility themselves. Erasmus+ has an effect through internationalization-at-home contribution as visiting staff and students enrich the learning environment also for non-mobile students and staff. Supporting many different mobility activities within Una Europa helps us getting towards realizing our aim of 50% mobility and our alliance initiative "Mobility for all".
