The Erasmus+ KA131 mobility project plays a central role in Arcada’s internationalisation, as most of our student and staff mobilities take place within this framework. By implementing short-term blended mobilities, we wanted to make international experiences accessible to a wider group of students. This format lowers barriers to participation and ensures that more students can benefit from intercultural learning opportunities. We see mobility periods as a way to support our strategic goal of creating multilingual and multicultural learning contexts. Successful exchanges lead to engaged students who can contribute to a positive and sustainable impact on society. Through this project, we also aim to strengthen internationalisation at home. Not all students are able to go abroad, but incoming mobilities ensure that a wider group of students are still exposed to international perspectives in the classroom. Incoming staff mobility, for example, brings new ideas and teaching methods that enhance the quality of education. Similarly, incoming students contribute to a more diverse learning environment, which we believe is both a resource and a driving force for quality. Furthermore, the project helps us deepen long-term partnerships with European and global institutions. This cooperation supports the professional development of our staff, encourages innovation in teaching, and facilitates joint initiatives such as other Erasmus+ funded projects and blended intensive programmes. In the long run, we want Erasmus+ mobility to be a catalyst for strengthening Arcada’s role as an open, internationally connected institution that prepares graduates to work in diverse and rapidly changing environments.
