Objectives

The project focused on three main objectives: Objective 1 : Creating opportunities for youth workers to learn new skills, gain knowledge and improve attitudes is a step towards wider international involvement of the youth. This objective implied creating opportunities for youth workers to take part in capacity building activities, so they can see how they can benefit on both professional and personal level, and be inspired to develop own international work in the future: whether within youth exchanges or mobilities for youth workers. In this endevour, we aim to involve both experienced international cooperation professionals and newcomers to ensure exhange of knowledge and expansion of networks. Objective 2 : This objective implied engaging newcomers to international cooperation and organizing low-threshold participation opportunities for youth. The goal was to help young people from rural areas of North Karelia overcome feeling of being alienated, and bring remote areas closer to the EU be creating encounters. As an empowering experience and a practical step advancing active citizenship it is especially important for young people who are clients of youth workshops, and those with geographical and economic obstacles. A mobility abroad is a scary experience for a lot of local youngsters. We wanted to gradually increase their participation in exchanges. Virtual preparation stage of exchange was taken to help bring down the wall of language barrier and initial shyness. Objective 3 : Within this objective we organized mobilities for professionals where they could find opportunities for cross-sectoral cooperation and meet colleagues who also wanted to build synergies. We wanted to make sure that local actors were involved in capacity building and networking activities, and recognize the benefits from working internationally. Cooperation in networking activities, seminars and trainings are important to change attitudes and promote openness to intercultural initiatives. We wanted to share experience and good partnerships of Hyvärilä and our networks with local actors who can benefit from it, and eventually contribute to development of internationality in the region.
