Objectives

Through this project, we aimed to promote outdoor education, sports and different physical activities for target groups, which are usually excluded from these kinds of opportunities due to their gender. We also adopted an intersectional approach where gender is not the only – but often decisive factor, which actively influences participation. Through our activities, we stimulated reflection and ask what kind of still stand on the way, raising important questions around visibility and representation in society. From this perspective, this PDA trained youth workers in countering different forms of gender-based inequalities and discrimination i) by, ii) through and iii) in outdoor activities. Our objectives were: - to train our organisations’ members and youth workers to identify gender-based inequalities, stereotypes and different types of discrimination in and through outdoor education - to deepen our knowledge of gender-related issues and Human Rights, in order to create better communication with the youth we are in contact with – through our everyday work - to provide youth workers with a set of readily adaptable tools to actively involve all youngsters – regardless of their gender or sexual orientation, in the outdoor activities they may feel drawn to - to help youth workers promote physical activity for everyone – including girls and young women, different minority groups and people with a disability background - to create a more inclusive, peaceful and respectful relationships among our respective target groups – direct beneficiaries, as well as partner organisations.
