The project's aim was to create new learning opportunities for adult learners of any age group by producing innovative teaching and learning material suitable for informal adult education, university courses as well as independent learning. improve the availability of high quality and innovative learning material for a less-taught language (Hungarian) and promote inclusion and flexible learning by it's digital content and pedagogical practices. The outputs of the project were planned to be suitable for open and distance learning as well as traditional classroom teaching, flipped-learning and independent learning. The whole material is freely available on the coordinator's YouTube channel, linked to the partners’ home pages. It is accessible for learners regardless of place of residence. This is particularly valuable in a country like Finland, where many people live in remote areas.
Hungarian is a less-taught language in many European countries, including Finland, Germany. However, there is a large amount of learners studying Hungarian in adult education and at universities. Adult education has a long history in both Finland and Germany with a country-wide network of adult educational centres. The institutes offer courses for anyone interested without a requirement of previous study. Both countries also have long-standing traditions of teaching Hungarian at university level. Both target groups need basic understanding of the language structure. Although there is a lot of material available for teaching and learning grammar, suitable video material for this level was missing. As language teachers know, students often find grammar learning difficult and uninteresting. The project’s aim was to provide innovative material for this purpose: teaching grammatical topics by experienced teachers in professional studio circumstances.
