The École Supérieure des Technologies et des Affaires (Belfort, France) - ESTA - has been training business engineers capable of selling technical products and services on world markets since 1986. Internationalisation has been part of the curriculum since the school was founded, including a compulsory stay abroad in an international industrial environment to immerse oneself in a different culture and improve one's command of English and even the local language. Over the last ten years, academic exchanges have been developed with more than twenty partners in Europe, Tunisia and Lebanon, including two double-degree programmes with Turku UAS in Finland and TH Aschaffenburg in Germany. All students on the Grande École (entering ESTA after the BAC) and BAC+2 (entering ESTA after a two-year technical course) courses are obliged to spend at least one semester abroad. Students are free to choose their country of study. Erasmus+ grants are a motivating factor in choosing (1) an academic exchange or (2) a company located in Europe, the largest market for French industry. In this way, they also help to strengthen knowledge of other countries, cultures, economies and European values. Erasmus+ grants also help students to meet the additional costs incurred by this compulsory stay abroad. Unfortunately, no incoming students chose ESTA as their study destination during this academic year. Staff exchanges (teaching/training) which benefited from Erasmus+ funding made it possible to share the expertise of ESTA's teacher-researchers with students from academic partners or to discover new working and/or teaching methods. These exchanges are also important for strengthening cooperation with partners and creating personal links with colleagues who then become ambassadors for ESTA to their students.
