Objectives

Our BTS Tourism department developed an Erasmus+ project to allow our first-year students to undertake an eight-week internship. The main objectives were to enable our students to discover other cultures and professional environments, to experience language immersion, to acquire foreign language and professional skills, and to develop their future employability. Our goal was to increase the number of Erasmus+ beneficiaries, a goal we achieved, as we sent seven students on grants and one without. We exceeded our targets. They were selected based on predefined criteria (behavior, attendance, maturity). Their main objectives were to: - Improve their foreign language skills - Experience mobility to expand their cultural awareness - Find professional integration locally in companies that welcome many tourists, and perhaps even internationally - Develop independence in their personal and professional lives - Enhance their CVs with a view to furthering their studies - Present the option of a Professional Development Program Abroad From the beginning of their first-year BTS program, students are presented with the following selection criteria: - Motivation - Ability to adapt to a new environment - Ability to express themselves and understand English and Spanish - Student behavior and work performance during their BTS program - Attitudes, skills, and know-how of internship students - Involvement in the host company's research The tasks assigned to our students during their mobility included reception, information, and support in French and foreign languages, the sale of tourist products, and the management of furnished tourist accommodations. The host facilities fully meet the BTS Tourism curriculum (receptive agencies, some of which specialize in sports tourism), which is one of our main objectives in terms of professional skills. The results were achieved; the students acquired an open mind, gained independence, and improved their professional skills. They also developed their language skills in the host country. Furthermore, during this mobility, we expanded the number of host destinations to include Greece, Madeira, and Sicily. Through this agreement, we also benefited from two mobility placements for two teachers from the department. In April 2024, we hosted two teachers from the Guillem Cifre Institute of Higher Education in Colonya de Pollença for jobshadowing. These exchanges led to the establishment of a collaboration with this institution in Mallorca.
