Objectives

A century-old institution founded in 1911, the Lycée des Métiers du Bâtiment (LMB) was initially a professional school, in the tradition of the masons of the Creuse region. Over the years, it has become an exemplary training tool, offering six training programs: woodworking, metal construction, structural civil engineering, development and finishing trades, stone cutting, and digital innovation in construction. The Lycée des Métiers du Bâtiment de Felletin has a long history of involvement in European projects; we have undertaken mobility through the Comenius and Leonardo programs. We have conducted several exchanges with Finland, Poland, the Netherlands, and even the United States. The retirement of the language colleague in charge of Erasmus applications, followed by the transfer of the English colleague, put our student mobility dynamics on hold for a while. The Covid crisis, just after obtaining the Charter, slowed our momentum. Our institution, located in a rural area, welcomes many students with fewer opportunities (scholarship holders, non-native speakers). During the institution's evaluation process, all stakeholders agreed that combating the negative effects of isolation was a priority. Our students struggle with mobility, which is why we seek to promote and value all forms of travel. The goal is to enable students to cross their boundaries, whether mental, geographical, or professional. The involvement of the school's staff through staff mobility allows them to discover new professional practices and new training programs, which will help renew the skills of their colleagues. As part of the ecological transition of the construction industry, it is essential that future professionals deepen their awareness of the challenges by exploring different ways of building. The LMB's influence, through the establishment of an international network in a context of transformation of professions linked to the transition to a low-carbon society, will ultimately enable the internationalization of training. The objective, through the creation of a steering committee composed of professors from each of our technical specialties (Metalworking, Civil Engineering, Finishing Work, Wood Construction), an English teacher, the Deputy Director of Vocational and Technological Training and the manager, and the Lead Teacher for European and International Action, is to offer all of our Higher Technician Certificate students the opportunity to complete their first-year internship abroad. The idea is to create momentum among our teaching staff and students and to help establish a "habit" of doing an internship abroad. The second objective is to also make it an added value for the recruitment of our future students. During this convention, with the creation of the Steering Committee, the establishment of frequent meetings, communication and promotional actions within the establishment made it possible to create momentum for European mobility with the departure on internship mobility of two of our students and also the mobility of three staff members (two professors and the Teacher responsible for mobility).
