Objectives

Our higher education cluster has around 150 students and two specializations: GRAPHIC DESIGN and AUDIOVISUAL DESIGN. By sending our first students and teachers abroad on internships, we wanted to inspire others to go. The AUDIOVISUAL specialization needed to revise its agreement system so that the duration of the internship could be sufficient for ERASMUS+ mobility (i.e. at least 9 weeks), but ideally we wanted to get more students involved, as we found that the mobilities were requested by the same student profile, so we wanted to break down barriers: - We wanted to make it clear that language level was a key factor, but not an obstacle. And that beyond that, it was possible to make rapid progress with motivation. - We also wanted to provide information on financial aid opportunities for scholarship holders and disabled people (we know that this type of project often seems unthinkable, at first sight, when you don't have the means). - We wanted to raise our colleagues' awareness of the value of, and positive feedback from, teacher training courses taken in Europe as part of our mobility programs. Some students (and teachers) are still afraid, and we want them to feel supported and guided in this process. We wanted to broaden the range of support available to help everyone progress in English, so that they would feel more at ease once they arrived. We wanted to boost their self-confidence and skills. We also wanted to make progress in putting in place the necessary steps to facilitate access to this experience, by ritualizing key moments at school level, but also by developing and generalizing remote tools. Ecology is also a sensitive subject for our school, which is very committed to the environment (we wanted to remind candidates of the importance of traveling without polluting). In addition, we already have a partnership with a Quebec school (CEGEP de Rivière-du-Loup - CANADA), but our ambition was to expand and develop relations with other European schools. We also have a partnership with a teacher from Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles, in the Modern Languages and Literatures department. Every semester, BTS Audiovisuel students take part in joint activities with students from this university. Students also have the opportunity to interview an American set designer. Finally, we wanted to promote this experience as a real opportunity for the future. We wanted to look ahead to the possibility of opening a complementary academic year (FCIL DPII - Design Professionnalisation International et Innovation), enabling students to leave over a longer period. In this way, we wanted students to take the measure of what they had experienced, and all to see mobility as a springboard for professional integration.
