IMT Mines Albi is an atypical public higher education institution for two reasons: it is a Grande École of Engineering with barely 1,000 students on its campus, given that the Grandes Ecoles system is not known outside France, and Albi is very out of the way, a city far from Paris by public transport. We are, however, fully focused on the international scene and are trying to turn what might appear to be weaknesses into strengths: Taking up the pilgrim's staff, going to forums and also going to see (future) partners to explain what a Grande École is, presenting our engineering training offer, very close to industry with many internships, the advantages for their students of coming to Albi, an UNESCO-listed city with an undeniable quality of life, in a well-equipped Campus and with teaching teams dedicated to teaching and research, concerned about the well-being of students. Certified ISO 9001:2015 and awarded the two-star ‘Welcome to France’ label by Campus France, we also organise a staff week every year, which, through the ‘managing across cultures in a world of transitions’ course, enables us to welcome teaching and administrative colleagues from different European countries and show them the quality of life in Albi and the possibility of sending their students to us with complete confidence. IMT Mines Albi has also been a member of the European alliance EULiST (European Universities Linking Society and Technology) since 2022, through IMT (Institut Mines Télécom), and is thus part of a major European network. As an active institutional member of the Maison de l'Europe du Tarn, IMT Mines Albi is committed to European values, is involved in jointly organised activities and promotes Europe, particularly during ERASMUS days, with events and a flagship conference. In line with the ERASMUS Charter, IMT Mines Albi has been committed to dematerialising its processes since 2021: thanks to the acquisition of the SoleMove platform, which has been fully operational since 2023, we sign European partnerships via SoleMove, just as the tool enables us to sign learning agreements online. Above all, the project has enabled us to send our students on academic placements and internships, to give PhD students the benefit of short placements to take part in seminars and short training courses, to send our staff on training courses in other establishments, and to host a staff week, all with the same goal in mind: To internationalise the establishment, respectively its users, which means giving them the opportunity to acquire soft skills that are essential to personal and professional development and that can only be acquired in a mobility situation, such as: - Know-how: intercultural adaptation, autonomy, communication, project management, - Personal skills: open-mindedness, tolerance, ability to work in a multicultural team, resilience and to be an inclusive institution that encourages diversity and gives the right place to ecological and digital transitions.
