Objectives

The school offers a degree programme in industrial design or textile design, leading to a master's degree, which includes: - exchange semesters with its 30 European partners (51 worldwide) - a two-year academic exchange programme (MEDes) among 6 of 7 European partner design schools (see details below) https://www.ensci.com/international/medes-une-specificite - the opportunity for students to undertake one or more long-term (4 to 6 months) professional internships abroad - short hybrid training courses (one- or two-week workshops) within partner associations, companies or schools. For staff: - the opportunity for ENSCI staff to gain international design experience in other schools or institutions - the opportunity to invite foreign speakers to teach design in English at ENSCI. The Erasmus+ 2023 budget was intended to achieve the following objectives: - facilitate intra-European and international mobility with other schools, other design academies, associations, institutions or companies for professional internships, particularly in the fields of design, industry and art. - enable students to spend a semester abroad, - encourage them to learn foreign languages, - promote intercultural work and international forms of learning, mainly in English, - increase employability, - experiment with teaching methods, techniques and practices that differ from those used at ENSCI, - develop and motivate ENSCI staff through mobility and training in other European institutions. Staff mobility has been praised and contributes to ENSCI's international reputation. For 26 years, the MEDes (Master of European Design) programme has brought together seven partner schools on a contractual and informal basis: KISD (Germany), Universidade de Aveiro (Portugal), The Glasgow School of Art (Scotland), Konstfack (Sweden), Politecnico di Milano (Italy), Aalto University (Finland) and ENSCI-Les Ateliers (France). The aim is to enable students from one of the seven schools who wish to gain immersive international experience to spend their first year (10 months) at one of the six partner schools and their second year at one of the other five schools. https://www.ensci.com/international/medes-une-specificite . This process is reviewed each year in March by a jury composed of two members from each school during a hybrid workshop that includes five days of physical attendance at one of the MEDes schools. For the first time, ENSCI-Les Ateliers organised a BIP as part of this MEDes programme workshop with several partner academic institutions: KISD, Universidade de Aveiro, Politecnico di Milano, Aalto University and Konstfack. We organised two video meetings beforehand and one video meeting afterwards. We invited staff and students from the seven MEDes institutions to the physical workshop in March, supervised by two designers: Matali CRASSET (renowned French professional designer) and Valentin GRAILLAT (talented French researcher). This enabled the European partner schools to select students who could participate in the BIP. The BIP facilitated the entire organisation of the workshop at ENSCI and helped to promote interest in international mobility among MEDes partner design schools and raise awareness of this programme.
