Objectives

This project is part of the internationalisation and partnership strategy that has been implemented at the University of Tours for several years. It enables an ever-increasing number of students, teachers, and administrative staff to participate in mobility programs in Europe (+25% mobility for studies, +75% outgoing mobility for training, and +150% incoming training and teaching mobility over the last five years) and beyond, thanks to the Erasmus+ programme. It relies now on the European alliance NEOLAiA created in 2023, which is seeing the emergence of a pan-European inter-university campus where the majority of students from different socio-economic and cultural backgrounds can benefit from physical, virtual, or hybrid mobility. This alliance also enables staff to develop their skills by offering them international mobility, training, and exchanges of professional practices. This project is supported by the strategic guidance note produced by the new Presidential team of the University of Tours on 5th May 2025, which aims to develop new synergies within the institution around interdisciplinarity, links with institutional and socio-economic actors, and the dissemination of knowledge and research with and for society. It reinforces our identity as a humanistic and European institution and enhances our appeal by promoting the diversity of our teaching offer and the creation of enriched study programmes with the aim of ensuring student success and professional integration. A multidisciplinary institution whose main thematic areas are: health, humanities and social sciences, science and technology, the University of Tours is firmly rooted in this European future, where intercultural dialogue, the sharing of best practices, the transmission of knowledge, and the development of cooperation are key values. The organisation of cross-mobility for students and staff using all the instruments of the Erasmus+ programme (key actions 1 and 2) also enriches the university community with diverse practices and knowledge, thus promoting openness to the world and the acquisition of new skills, even for new audiences who are unable or unwilling to undertake medium- to long-term mobility. These mobility programmes enable the University of Tours to establish and strengthen sustainable and dynamic partnerships combining training and research and contributing to the quality of the European Higher Education Area.
