Objectives

The project primarily aimed to strengthen the internationalization of INSA Rouen Normandie and, more broadly, of the INSA Group, by promoting mobility and offering both students and staff new opportunities for international exposure. The goal was to diversify and intensify mobility flows while ensuring better visibility and recognition of experiences gained abroad. Specifically, the initiative sought to encourage a greater number of students to participate in study or internship mobility from the 3rd, 4th, or 5th year, depending on their field of study. This approach not only multiplies the feedback and prepares future candidates for mobility, but also enhances the quality of incoming international student reception. The reciprocal relationship between outgoing and incoming students helps create a stimulating multicultural environment, benefiting the entire student community. However, recent international circumstances have complicated the implementation of certain mobilities, particularly SMT. The introduction of a new academic calendar, including 16 mandatory weeks of mobility, led many students to favor study mobility over internships, which became more difficult to organize within the available timeframe. Beyond these constraints, the project enabled the development of new strategic directions: diversification of international partnerships, implementation and promotion of double-degree programs, development of AC2 cooperation projects, and encouragement of doctoral mobility, including participation in short-term mobility for PhD students. INSA also sought to engage in innovative pedagogical approaches. In this context, a Challenge-Based Learning (CBL) activity was organized within the European ECIU Alliance, bringing together nearly 20 students from diverse backgrounds. This initiative reflects the commitment to promoting collaborative and transnational formats, where students work together to solve real-world problems aligned with socio-economic needs. Beyond students, the project also aimed to create more professional opportunities and skill development for INSA staff by encouraging their participation in teaching, training, or cooperation mobility. Another major objective was to welcome a growing number of international students, particularly through the Erasmus+ program, to enrich the cultural and academic diversity of the institution. This dynamic helps stimulate INSA’s openness to new cooperation projects and strengthens its positioning within the European Higher Education Area. Finally, the project highlighted, in a transversal manner, the four priorities of the Erasmus+ program, which also reflect core values shared across the INSA Group: Inclusion and diversity: ensuring mobility opportunities are accessible to as many students as possible, regardless of their background or constraints, through the provision of flat-rate grants. Sustainable development and environmental responsibility: raising students’ awareness of climate-related issues linked to their mobility and promoting eco-responsible partnerships through GreenINSA. Digital transformation: integrating more digital tools and practices into the organization and monitoring of mobility via EWP and MoveON. Active citizenship: encouraging students to actively engage in collaborative and multicultural projects aligned with current societal challenges (Don@, Feelin@live, etc.). Thus, beyond the mobility flows themselves, this project contributed to consolidating a genuine international culture at INSA, placing openness, cooperation, and pedagogical innovation at the heart of its strategic development.
