L’Horizon is a modestly sized (150 students for a capacity of 243 learners ) single-track social work training centre accredited by the Ministry of Social Affairs and the Île-de-France Regional Council for the preparation of the State Diploma in Early Childhood Education (DEEJE), level 6, which, since the reform of the diploma in 2018, has been enriched by an integrated bachelor's degree in education sciences, in partnership with the University of Paris Nanterre. Our educational project aims to train professionals capable of meeting the needs of the education and social work sector in Europe and beyond. Since obtaining our first Erasmus+ accreditation in 2012, we have considered internationalisation to be a priority and an essential lever for learning and the personal and professional development of individuals. Our international project is based on the conviction that encounters and exchanges between those involved in education and social work are essential for enriching practices and developing individuals' skills. Throughout its involvement in the Erasmus+ programme, and even more so with the 2021-2027 programme, L'Horizon has developed a strategy that impacts its organisation and influences its training and support system, both for staff in STT or STA projects and for students and apprentices in SMP or SMS projects, in Europe and beyond. The challenge is to integrate the expectations and values of the programme and to open up activities to all. To our knowledge, few social work training centres of our size offer such a wide range of mobility activities that are recognised as part of the training programme. Erasmus+ mobility has been a central element of our institutional project from the outset, as it has contributed to the construction of a Europe of education by highlighting the diversity of pedagogical approaches and practices. All staff, beyond the Erasmus+ coordinators, are becoming increasingly familiar with and embracing Erasmus+ year after year. Nearly 70% of first-year students enrol in the ‘Erasmus+ Project Approach’ module to ‘do’ Erasmus+. To support students' internship projects, we have integrated preparation into a training module called ‘Erasmus+ Project Approach’, which provides project methodology, intercultural preparation, collective and individual support one year before departure, as well as remote support before, during and after the internship, until the Erasmus Days in October. To enable individual mobility, L'Horizon strives to develop and strengthen partnerships with higher education institutions and educational internship providers in order to offer high-quality training, teaching, internship and now study mobility experiences, requiring a strong commitment from host institutions. We maintain close ties with European and international institutions, as these collaborations allow us to open up to other practices and teaching methods, as well as a diversity of innovative approaches. To date, L'Horizon has two active partnerships with higher education institutions: Erasmus Hogeschool in Brussels since 2016, and CEGEP Montmorency in Laval, Canada, since 2012. These partnerships constitute a modest but solid network and also enable us to engage in exchanges with their partners (ELTE TOK University, the University of Bologna, etc.) in order to expand our network. In 2023-2024, two incoming teaching mobilities took place at L'Horizon, with two trainers from Erasmus Hogeschool, as part of our ‘Artistic Mediation’ training module. For the first time, in 2024-2025, outgoing study mobility programmes in a Hybrid Intensive Programme run by our Belgian partner were organised in February 2025, following two years of joint preparatory work, which resulted in the establishment of a recognised joint module for students from L'Horizon, Erasmus Hogeschool and ELTE Tok University in Budapest. L'Horizon now allows first-year students to participate in short-term study mobility. It is likely that L'Horizon will in turn commit to a BIP to develop a new joint module enabling intensive incoming study mobility, in order to strengthen its capacities, enhance the skills of staff and learners, and diversify its activities. Our participation in the Erasmus+ programme inspires students, apprentices and staff with a desire for international and European experiences, offering various opportunities for innovative experimentation that highlight the programme's horizontal priorities.
