Objectives

The Institut Polytechnique de Paris (IP Paris) is a public institution of a scientific, cultural, and professional nature. IP Paris is a world-class institute of science and technology that brings together six prestigious French engineering schools: École Polytechnique, ENSTA Paris, École Nationale des Ponts et Chaussées (ENPC), ENSAE Paris, Télécom Paris, and Télécom SudParis. In addition, IP Paris has established a Graduate School that centralizes all of its graduate programs, awarding national IP Paris degrees: Master’s, PhD, and Habilitation to Direct Research (HDR). IP Paris stands out for its strong commitment to academic excellence, cutting-edge research, and the training of future leaders capable of delivering concrete solutions to major technological and societal challenges. In this context, the Erasmus+ 2023 project has helped strengthen the internationalization strategy of the Institut Polytechnique de Paris by supporting the mobility of Graduate School students and PhD candidates through academic and professional internships abroad. This strategic choice aims to provide participants with valuable international professional experience, while enhancing their employability and intercultural skills. Since the signing of the Erasmus+ Charter in 2020, the number of mobilities carried out has increased significantly, reflecting both the growing attractiveness of the Erasmus+ program and its success among students and doctoral researchers. By facilitating traineeships in international professional environments, IP Paris has enabled its participants to acquire specialized skills, develop new expertise, and build international professional networks. The central objective of this project was to strengthen the international dimension of student curricula and staff professional development by encouraging a greater number of outgoing mobilities, particularly traineeships. IP Paris also sought to diversify destination countries, improve academic recognition of mobility achievements, and enhance support for students in socially vulnerable situations. In line with this approach, IP Paris is currently signing new institutional agreements to further expand mobility opportunities for its students and to strengthen academic partnerships worldwide. This expansion aims to increase the international attractiveness of IP Paris and consolidate its position among leading higher education and research institutions. Future Erasmus+ projects are expected to focus on a wider diversification of mobility types, with particular attention given to academic exchanges. The ambition is to enable more students to participate in study-abroad programs, to provide faculty members with opportunities to teach abroad, and to encourage administrative staff mobility in order to benefit from international best practices. This openness will enrich the academic, professional, and personal development of the entire IP Paris community.
