Objectives

Our aim is to send BTS students in SMT or SMS abroad in order to give their CVs an international dimension—an added value for their future job search—with the support of the Erasmus+ programme, without which such an initiative would not be possible. Since 2014, the Avenir+ consortium has been committed to enhancing and multiplying mobility opportunities for students and staff in higher education sections engaged in services for internationally oriented businesses. Given the large number of mobilities carried out since 2014—over 1,260—this consortium has helped to sustain mobility opportunities with foreign partners, companies, and higher education institutions. It contributes to a stronger recognition of mobility periods through the pooling of best practices and improved mobility management. After ten years of existence, the members of the consortium have added genuine value to the training paths of their students and staff, with the international dimension of their education now firmly established. Secondary schools have broken out of their isolation. The consortium has enabled them to increase the number of mobilities and to improve their management of Erasmus+ mobility programmes. This collective approach has also given them the opportunity to work with institutions offering related training courses. Our goal here is to disseminate best practices among the consortium’s other partners. BTS students are required to complete an internship in a company abroad, in order to put into practice the prospecting and communication techniques studied in class, to understand and adapt to intercultural differences, to improve language proficiency, and, of course, to discover the heritage and culture of the host country. It is also a key way for them to build an international network. Student participation in international mobility is included in the official curriculum guidelines: it is compulsory for BTS International Trade students and recommended for others. The targeted BTS programmes focus on communication, management, business, sales, tourism, and hospitality. The consortium draws on the resources of the DRAREIC to expand its pool of partner companies and higher education institutions abroad. This approach has helped establish strong partnerships. In addition, through working meetings and the development of training and mobility management tools, the consortium has supported the preparation of students for their mobility. Students, whether during internships as part of their training or in employment afterwards, integrate into organizations from a wide range of sectors (administration, insurance, banking, hospitality, industry, real estate, printing, IT, leisure, healthcare, media, advertising, transport, tourism).
