The University of La Réunion (UR) is a French higher education and research institution located in the heart of the Indian Ocean in an outermost region of Europe. As a beneficiary of an Erasmus+ higher education mobility project since 1989, the university wishes to participate in the Erasmus+ KA131 mobility program to consolidate its internationalization strategy and affirm its ambition to become the European university of reference on the Asia-Africa axis. With 19,200 students and 1,500 staff, the UR is a multidisciplinary university comprising five teaching and research units (UFR), an engineering school, an IUT, an IAE and an INSPE. The UR aims to expand mobility opportunities for its entire university community in order to promote open-mindedness, the development of linguistic and intercultural skills, and to increase the academic and professional success of participants. This participation in the program is in line with the strategic objectives of the institution's five-year contract (2020-2025): developing an ambitious partnership policy in its geographical area through a high-quality reception policy, promoting student and staff mobility, strengthening links with European university networks, including those in the outermost regions (e.g., the RETI network), and structuring regional and extra-regional cooperation through projects (in particular Erasmus+ KA2). In line with its missions of initial and continuing education, research and promotion, and its role as a social ladder, the University of La Réunion is mobilizing Erasmus+ as a major lever for socio-economic, cultural and academic development, serving its territory and its international influence.
