Objectives

The WETCI project aimed to facilitate entrepreneurship for women who wish to do so, by providing resources and courses of action. One of the underlying objectives was to show alternative ways of doing business, based on cooperation and intrapreneurship, which seemed to us to meet the needs already identified among women entrepreneurs. We also wanted to show that women can succeed not only by becoming self-sufficient entrepreneurs, but also by building strong partnerships and integrating into support networks that energize local territories. Through testimonials, transnational exchanges, the construction of a short training program and the production of an e-book highlighting many of the careers of women entrepreneurs, we sought to raise awareness of these models, to support professional inclusion and to share knowledge that can be used both by women entrepreneurs themselves and by training organisations or support structures.

Background

We applied for the WETCI project in response to a need clearly identified and shared by our partner organizations, SCIC KEJAL in France and SEGE in Greece : the under-representation of women in entrepreneurship and the particular difficulties they face. Our goal was to design and deliver an inclusive and accessible training program, which promotes cooperation and intrapreneurship as empowering alternatives for women facing economic insecurity, unemployment, or career transition. Thanks to WETCI, we have better understood the difficulties faced by women entrepreneurs, which partly explain their under-representation, and what answers can be provided : alternatives to "classic" entrepreneurship and its constraints, integration of networks of women entrepreneurs, implementation of actions in support organizations to compensate for the systemic inequalities that women still encounter in our societies and that hinder them in their careers... The project has therefore also strengthened the professional capacities of the KEJAL and SEGE teams in their work with the supported women entrepreneurs.
