We wanted to achieve several goals. Firstly, we wanted to put pupils and teachers from different countries in contact with each other with a view to cultural exchanges and active practice of the English language for the duration of the 4 visits. At the same time, the theme of natural hazards and the way in which European societies are, or are not, prepared to deal with them are at the heart of our respective geography and science and technology curricula in France, Italy and Croatia. The aim is therefore to share our thoughts, knowledge and points of view on this issue, from the perspective of both students and teachers. The educational and scientific aim of this project is fundamental. It should make us aware of how close this issue is to our three countries and, more generally, to the EU as a whole. In terms of teaching, the final podcast project, with its videos, animations and conclusions, should be a teaching tool that can be re-used in lessons by the various teachers involved, as well as their colleagues in their respective schools.
The decision to apply for this K210 project is based on two objectives. The first objective is to continue our collaboration with two foreign schools with which we have already participated in a simple partnership in 2021. For us, the aim is to give some of our pupils the opportunity to exchange with young people of their own age, in English, while at the same time opening up culturally (visits, host families, taking part in courses abroad). This is also true for the accompanying teachers. The second reason is educational. We want to explore the issue of natural hazards and the way in which European societies are dealing with them, or not, in the context of major climate change and in relation to the compulsory geography and science lessons. It is also an opportunity to compare the approaches and objectives of our different courses, in a way that is both transdisciplinary and transnational.
