Objectives

The main objective of the project was to develop an innovative STEM education approach based on immersive technologies. Specific objectives included developing a pedagogical strategy integrating STEM learning in the metaverse, creating a structured curriculum with lesson plans and digital materials, and designing a VR application (M-STEM VR Lab). The project also aimed to improve teachers’ digital and pedagogical competences and to increase students’ motivation, engagement and understanding of STEM subjects.

Background

The project was developed to address the need to modernise STEM education and increase student engagement. Traditional teaching methods often fail to motivate learners or help them understand complex scientific concepts. Partners identified a strong need to integrate immersive technologies such as virtual reality and metaverse environments into school education. At the same time, teachers required support to develop digital competences and adopt innovative pedagogical approaches. The project therefore aimed to respond to both student engagement challenges and teacher training needs in STEM education.
