The project aims to strengthen the role of secondary schools in the ecological transition by enabling pupils, teachers and school leaders to become agents of change for environmental sustainability and climate action. The overall objective is to enable secondary school pupils to become agents of change for environmental sustainability and climate action by strengthening their knowledge, skills and civic engagement. The expected results during the project period are: an e-learning course, a handbook, national workshops, school environmental initiatives, a digital platform, a plan and dissemination materials. The expected results and benefits beyond the duration of the project are the continued use of the e-learning course, handbook and platform as open resources for European teachers, strengthened cooperation between schools to promote sustainability education, the reuse of project tools (platform, action plan, materials) in other educational projects and initiatives, and the continuation of climate change awareness-raising activities in schools and local communities.
The Erasmus+ PATHWAYS project was designed to respond to emerging educational and societal needs related to ecological transition and the training of young European citizens. This initiative aims to fill gaps in environmental sustainability education and strengthen schools' capacity to play a leading role in climate action. The project was undertaken to address a dual educational and societal challenge: to educate young people to understand climate challenges and empower them to take concrete action in their communities. It aims to provide a renewed and inclusive educational framework in which teachers, students and school communities work together for a sustainable future. The project is in line with several key priorities of the Erasmus+ programme and European policies: The PATHWAYS project was designed to address the lack of training and teaching tools in environmental education, while empowering young people to take action. By promoting collaboration between European schools and producing innovative resources, PATHWAYS is helping to build an educational community committed to climate and sustainability.
