Objectives

The partner countries aimed to develop the following skills in students: - the ability to work in groups on shared topics prior to the exchanges. - a sense of belonging to European citizenship. - recognition of the contribution of science to the fight against climate change (for students who have chosen scientific specializations such as Engineering or STEM). - psychosocial skills. - English language skills. - environmental awareness and an assessment of their own eco-anxiety. - a sense of competence to meet the challenges of tomorrow related to climate change. - the "ecological" dimension of the career guidance projects of final-year students. For teachers and adults in the schools involved in the project: - the ability to organize, coordinate, budget, and plan a large-scale project = to unite and involve adults with diverse profiles and skills around a project serving students from 5 different countries. The partners wanted to place students in the role of researchers and agents of change. To develop an understanding of sustainable urban development as a response to climate change. To strengthen international cooperation.

Background

We applied to this project following a mobility program in Finland for several school psychologists (CIO Dijon) in May 2022. We observed that the topic of "environmental issues" was not approached in the same way by Finnish and French students. It therefore seemed important to create an Erasmus+ KA2 cooperation partnership project between several European countries. The CIO Dijon and the Lycée Gustave Eiffel, with its science and technology-focused programs, decided to join forces on the project. The objectives were to: - help students combat eco-anxiety by enabling them to better understand climate issues and the solutions available in the partner countries (scientific, technological, and agricultural) ; - empower them to be both observers and active participants in these solutions. The goal for the partner countries was to show students from five countries the consequences of climate change in Europe and its impact on the new jobs that young people will be able to enter very soon. The Dijon CIO (the only European relay CIO in the Academy) wanted to implement its professional expertise in a European project, serving students.
