Objectives

Between June 2023 and August 2024, the association Hors Pistes carried out two youth exchanges, called Words Matter 4 (WM4) and Juvene Semena (JS) and two professional development activities, Kiwi International Meeting (KIM) and Hors Cirque (HC). Moreover,, the exchange WM4 was preceded by an advanced planning visit. The objectives to be reached through these mobilities had been defined in the framework of the Erasmus+ Youth Accreditation, and they are explained followingly. O1: Promote non-violent, caring and stereotype-free communication. This objective is transversal for all mobilities. However, the WM4 project has particularly contributed to achieving this objective as it has given participants many tools to learn and practice nonviolent communication. O2: Raise awareness for ecology and respect for the environment. This objective is also transversal and present in all Hors Pistes activities, local and international. In particular, the JS exchange had ecology as one of its main themes. O3: Promote social inclusion and participation of young people with fewer opportunities. HC enabled a group of educators to become familiar with a new tool for inclusive pedagogy, the circus. The latter brings together audiences having more obstacles to access mobility thanks to its playful and accessible side. KIM mobility enabled partners to get together to develop new ideas for inclusive projects, and to learn more about the crucial issue of young people's mental health. The JS exchange, with its important co-creation process with the youth, enabled the participation of young people with fewer opportunities, some in situations of great fragility. O4: Strengthen synergies between local and international youth workers. The two professional development activities particularly contributed to this objective as they brought together actors more active at international or local level and highlighted the great impact of local - international cooperation for mobility projects. The JS exchange was an example of this type of cooperation, initiated as a continuation of the “Kiwipedia” strategic partnership. O5: Promote gender equality This objective cuts across all Hors Pistes projects. O6: Develop linguistic and cultural exchanges, promote the diversity of languages and cultures, and strengthen intercultural dialogue and understanding. Linguistic and cultural exchanges are at the heart of all mobilities carried out in this project. Particularly during exchanges, teams highlight linguistic diversity and offer intercultural sessions to share cultural aspects beyond clichés. O7: Support young people's personal development For many young people, the exchanges represented an opportunity to find themselves outside their comfort zone, to understand and value their own abilities and become aware of their limits. O9: Encourage young people's active participation in society and support their citizenship journey The two professional development activities enabled the educators to improve their ability to accompany young people and support their initiatives, thus aiding participation and civic engagement. Exchanges promote this objective because they give young people first-hand experience of what it's like to get involved on a daily basis and take care of a community. In the case of JS, in particular, the participatory process carried out beforehand resulted in a particularly high level of active participation.
