Objectives

In setting up these two youth exchange projects, we had several main objectives, all geared towards improving skills, raising awareness of important issues and promoting greater European cooperation. For the first project on ecological transition, our general objective was to develop and perpetuate environmentally-friendly practices, both individually and collectively. We wanted to raise young people's awareness of the need to act in an eco-responsible way and encourage them to become agents of change in their communities. By offering them the opportunity to discover environmental practices on an island like La Réunion, located in an outermost region. We hoped that they would leave with concrete ideas and a personal commitment to sustainable development. The project also aimed to encourage the exchange of ideas between young Europeans on environmental issues, while enabling them to develop intercultural and linguistic skills. The second project focused on digital education. The main aim was to raise participants' awareness of the excesses of today's digital society. We set up activities to develop critical thinking skills in the face of information overload and the omnipresent misinformation on social networks. By learning to identify fake news and check sources, young people will become responsible digital citizens. In addition, the project addressed issues of online privacy and security, showing the dangers of poorly protected personal data and the risks of cyber-bullying. Finally, the project encouraged ethical and respectful use of technology, highlighting the importance of digital inclusion and equitable access to technological resources. For the three youth associations involved, this was an opportunity to train young people to be aware of the issues and capable of navigating the digital world in an informed and responsible way. It also enabled us to show them how digital technology can be a lever for inclusion and personal and professional. In both cases, the underlying objectives were also to encourage cooperation between the partner organisations, to strengthen the social and intercultural skills of young people, and to promote solidarity and European citizenship. Through these exchanges, we hoped to encourage participants to become active and responsible citizens, capable of facing ecological or digital challenges with a critical mind and solid skills.
