Objectives

In accordance with the grant awarded, we implemented two projects: A youth exchange entitled “Nature Guardians”, which aimed to promote the local heritage of the Opal Coast, address environmental issues linked to the territory, and strengthen connections with the local population. A training course for youth professionals entitled “IDEA – Into a Dynamic European Awareness”, which aimed to encourage young people’s engagement in associative life, improve the matching between volunteers and organizations, and strengthen active participation in European democratic life. Youth Exchange – NATURE GUARDIANS The objective of this project was to bring together young people from across Europe around a common reconstruction project, a concept closely linked to the history of Concordia’s foundation, while highlighting principles of environmental and cultural protection. The project focused on promoting shared European values, with a strong emphasis on intercultural exchange, local heritage, and the biodiversity of the coastal area. It also incorporated a popular education approach, with participants first being sensitized to local monuments and sites, and then acting themselves to raise awareness about ways to promote and preserve them. The specific objectives of the project were as follows: To discover the local heritage and coastal biodiversity of the Opal Coast, particularly issues related to coastal erosion. To develop civic engagement through the implementation of actions useful to local residents (notably at Fort d’Alprech). To strengthen the sense of belonging to the European Union by meeting young people from different nationalities. Youth Mobility Project – IDEA The project aimed to strengthen the growth and impact of non-governmental entities within the European Union by stimulating young people’s interest in associative life and raising their awareness of the concrete actions they can undertake as informed and conscious European citizens. The main objective was to improve citizens’ democratic participation within the EU. To achieve this, the training course was designed to equip youth workers with tools to make their associations more attractive to individuals interested in volunteering, thereby fostering organizational growth and increasing their impact on society. In an increasingly challenging global context, the role of a cohesive European Union is essential, and the active engagement of all citizens in European democratic life is a key factor in addressing today’s global challenges. The specific objectives of the project were as follows: To stimulate young people’s interest in associative life by sharing knowledge on how to spark their interest and maintain it over time, ensuring sustained engagement within organizations. To facilitate better matching between potential volunteers and organizations by exploring ways to guide volunteers toward entities that best align with their aspirations and expectations, thereby increasing the likelihood of long-term commitment. To encourage European civic participation by reflecting on how to disseminate high-quality information about the EU in order to generate greater interest in European political life, motivating citizens to become more active within European society. This included discussions on current EU policies and laws, EU exchange programs (such as the European Solidarity Corps and Erasmus+), as well as the 2024 European elections. Two preparatory visits were carried out prior to the activities in order to assess on-site logistical conditions, meet local partners involved in the projects, identify the profiles of all participants and their specific needs, and further develop the activity schedule. These visits also helped build a relationship of trust with Concordia, facilitating the implementation of activities and ensuring smoother communication.
