The territory of Pays de Nay made up of 29 communes is located in the department of Pyrénées Atlantiques within the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region in France. Estella-Lizarra is a municipality in Navarre located on the southern slopes of the Pyrenees, in Spain. The Community of Communes of Pays de Nay and Marie d'Estella-Lizarra are two public organizations which have, among other things, the competence and management of their youth services. Their territorial representatives have the same desire to give young people, through non-formal and informal learning, access to creativity, to become aware of their environment, to get closer to other cultures and to overcome social and economic obstacles. Thanks to the cooperative work carried out in previous years, the technicians from the two youth services arrived at the same observation : young people have less and less direct contact with nature, and yet we are rural areas ! In fact, trips to homes - schools - fun activities are most often carried out by motorized vehicle. Young people walk less and less. The increase in sedentary lifestyle is worrying. For some, simply being outside without a specific purpose is no longer relevant. Walks in the great outdoors, observing flora and fauna or just for the pleasure of being in contact with it, have decreased considerably. In addition, the abusive use of the telephone and social networks degrades relationships between young people, adults, educators and society as a whole. The NatureConnection2 project, built in response to the findings detailed above, is aimed at young people from the two territories, aged 15 to 17, who contributed to its development. Some of them regularly participate in the activities offered by our youth services throughout the year and others are supported by social organizations to alleviate their family, social and/or disability difficulties. This project benefited from the know-how of specialized professionals from both territories: agro-forestry engineers, mountain guides and a naturopath. Its main objective is to reconnect young people with nature, by observing, appreciating and living with it. In particular the way of life of trees, the plant and animal ecosystem existing around them. In particular, the study of French linguistics around the noun “beech” and the verb “être” allows us to establish a relationship between living beings such as plants and humans. To do this, it is necessary to establish individually and collectively a warm and trusting atmosphere. Thus the progressive support for the discovery of one's own environment and that of its cross-border neighbor (France-Spain) promotes the identification of magnificent places and encourages young people to surpass themselves by giving them a taste for slow, gentle effort, so suitable for a hike.
