Objectives

With the realization of the Get Involved project, our aim was to address various challenges observed within our organizations regarding the mobility of youth, individualistic behaviors, intolerance, social and generational divides, and a crisis of political consciousness. Through this project, we sought to strengthen relations between French-speaking countries and the Maghreb to encourage mobility without language barriers. We chose to implement this project in Hammam Sousse, Tunisia, to sustain our partnership with our Tunisian counterparts. The MJC (Youth and Cultural Center) of the Elbeuf region was also able to enhance its ties with Mediterranean countries, as many young people in our community hail from these nations and reside in Priority Urban Areas. Due to visa-related administrative hurdles encountered during our "Freedom, Equality, Solidarity" project, we decided to conduct the "Get Involved" initiative in Tunisia to ensure seamless participation for the youth. However, we faced administrative challenges for two Belgian participants who were unable to join us in Tunisia. They were asked for a visa on the day of travel because they held Guinean passports. Despite our Belgian partner's efforts to verify visa requirements, we were initially informed that visas were unnecessary. Centered on international solidarity, this project is part of an engagement initiative where each young person became aware of their capacity to enact change and influence society. Our support involved raising awareness about solidarity and undertaking various acts of solidarity. Through this exchange, the four partners aimed to provide an intercultural experience (debates, workshops, daily interactions, entertainment, outdoor activities) for the young participants. Our project primarily revolves around interculturalism as a means to bring people together while fostering tolerance, peace, and openness to other cultures. We established the following objectives: Encourage young people to reflect on the concept of international solidarity and its application in their home countries, as well as in broader European and Euro-Mediterranean relations. Foster relationships between young people and local civil society. Implement tangible international solidarity initiatives. Develop awareness-raising and sharing materials.
