Physical and mental well-being is a fundamental right and one of the most important resources a person can have, it gives value to human existence and represents a basic condition for someone to live a full life. Every day, our mental health is subject to influences both internal and external to ourselves. Whether we are adolescents searching for a sense of identity and personal autonomy, young people striving to go to school or pursue a challenging career, or parents striving to provide for our children, we all fight a daily internal battle to keep our emotions, goals, needs and responsibilities in a healthy balance. Adolescence is a particularly vulnerable period in terms of mental health. It is the first and most intense time in which a person faces and tries to answer big questions such as: ''Who am I'' and ''What should I do with my life? Finding a purpose, building an identity and a set of values to live by, learning to be oneself while striving to belong to a social group, balancing personal dreams and desires with societal norms, dealing with an avalanche of new emotions and rapidly changing environment, are just some of the developmental tasks an adolescent has to complete. Thus, the purpose of the project was to develop essential mental health competencies for adolescents, such as: building a balanced personal identity, emotional management, maintaining meaningful relationships and healthy living. The underlying theoretical concepts have been taken from the latest scientific research in psychology, education and lifestyle. The objectives of the project were: 1. To develop the capacity of partner organisations to address the mental health educational needs of young people in their communities through the training of individual partner organisations youth workers. 2. To help youth workers in their personal growth as they train useful strategies for their daily performance when dealing with the emotional education needs of the young people they work with who often end up in bullying and substance use situations while addressing other mental health related competencies around the themes of Identity, Relationships and Emotions. 3. To encourage the use of mental health educational tools by youth workers in France and across Europe.
