"Music is perhaps the only example of what could have been – if there hadn't been the invention of language, the formation of words, the analysis of ideas – the communication of souls." We followed the words of the French writer Marcel Proust, who defines music as an alternative to classical language. Music and, specifically, musical and intercultural education, chosen as an educational tool for development, have been one of the most powerful means for the effective realization of social inclusion: it is a universal language, capable of connecting even worlds that seem distant from each other. With this project titled "Beats Your Hearts," developed from December 13 to 20, 2023, we did not limit ourselves to the cooperative and educational training of an international group of youth workers, but we planned educational interventions of a musical nature, such as participation in local cultural and artistic initiatives applied to the general training of the individual, to give space to sensitivity, creativity, and the ability to work in a team. The project was realized through cooperative and functional work, promoting multiculturalism and fostering the valorization, expression, and encounter between the different cultural identities involved. The summarized general and specific objectives were: To promote the exchange and experience of international mobility for 24 youth workers through music as a non-formal educational tool for intercultural inclusion and active participation; To promote the diffusion of musical culture through the organization of specific activities aimed at young people and carried out by young people, creating ideas, socialization, and future cooperation; To promote an educational opportunity, a chance for youth and professional aggregation, which would be a continuation of cooperative activity in the involved international communities; To develop a space for the exchange of good practices and the promotion of the development of expressive, communicative, and creative skills, such as the ability to express oneself and communicate with different non-verbal languages; To promote the Erasmus+ program among partner organizations and the external context with a focus on the objectives of lifelong learning, educational, professional, and personal development in the fields of education, training, youth, and sport. By implementing this mobility, we aimed to achieve: Personal and professional enrichment of youth workers through direct experience and intercultural exchange. Greater awareness and appreciation of cultural diversity among participants and the involved communities. The development of new musical, educational, and communicative skills that could be applied in their respective local contexts. The creation of an international network of cooperation between young people and organizations, promoting future collaborations and shared initiatives. The project's objectives were achieved because the participants reported an improvement in their skills and greater intercultural sensitivity. Musical and cultural activities fostered inclusion and social cohesion, creating lasting bonds between the international group and the local community of the island. The dissemination of the Erasmus+ program had a positive impact, stimulating interest in further learning opportunities and personal development.
