For several years, Concordia PACA has been working alongside local non-profit organizations, supporting them in hosting young people for civic service. As a result, we place great importance on developing and co-creating with our collaborators missions that aim to include Young People with Fewer Opportunities (YPFO). Concordia PACA is located in the northern districts of Marseille (14th arrondissement), and we have successfully approached non-profit organizations based in the Priority Neighborhoods of the City of Marseille (1st, 16th, 15th, 14th arrondissements) and the young beneficiaries of their actions. Some of these young people fall into the "Young People with Fewer Opportunities" category as they had dropped out of school, struggled to envision their future or build a socio-professional path, or had encountered or were familiar with the prison system. Our priority, in collaboration with local organizations, is to include these young people as much as possible through the civic service program, allowing them to evolve in a new, structured, and supportive environment, while giving them the opportunity to take initiatives and ultimately gain autonomy and self-confidence. At the time of drafting the project, we had 10 young people with fewer opportunities in civic service. Nevertheless, despite their strong commitment throughout their missions, socio-professional integration challenges persisted. They were unable to see themselves in socio-professional environments where they could thrive. Through this project, we managed to gather several insights based on our previous experiences and their feedback: a lack of perspectives, recognition, interaction with professionals in various fields, understanding and knowledge of current societal issues, acknowledgment of the skills they develop through volunteering, and opportunities to sustain their civic engagement in their daily lives. Thus, in order to broaden their horizons, we, Concordia PACA, our partners, and some of these young people wanted to create this project together, aimed at supporting their socio-professional integration through civic engagement.
