The idea of our project was to enhance youth participation in democratic life through journalism using a holistic process that included at least the following steps: • Guidance from experts • Personal and group research • Production of journalism material • Publication and distribution of hard‑copy and online articles Journalism is an activity of gathering, assessing, creating and presenting news and information and, as such, it can be a source of developing several skills that are important for participation in democratic life. Some of them include media and information literacy, critical thinking and information validation, research and investigation, and expression of thoughts and opinions, etc. The needs partners identified were based on their experience, on literature review and on communication with young people aged 16‑30 years old. Below the objectives set are described as well as the extent at which they were reached: • Build up the capacity of partners and their personnel in journalism as a form of participation. • Give the tools, skills and knowledge to at least 30 young people to start journalism as a way to participate in democratic life. • Publish at least 20 articles prepared by young people about issues that concern public opinion. • Ensure that the articles reach at least 3 000 young people in total, as well as people of other age groups. Partners can declare that they have reached and at some points over-performed project objectives, especially dissemination and sustainability objectives.
