The aim of the “Challenge ton Duo” project was to mobilize young people in the Paris region - whether identified as young people with fewer opportunities or not - around an awareness-raising program built around the principles of popular education. Through participatory workshops, the participants were invited to exercise their critical thinking skills and enrich their knowledge, from an individual understanding of the issues to a more systemic and global vision. We wanted to encourage their active participation in democratic life and encourage them to make a concrete commitment to social issues, by offering them opportunities for expression, debate and civic reflection. As a complement to the workshops, “challenges” - i.e. local volunteer actions - enabled participants to get involved in their local area and identify levers for action in favor of solidarity, living together and, where appropriate, social transformation. The themes addressed were often put into national and European perspective, in line with European objectives for youth, in order to reinforce the feeling of belonging to a shared citizenship, both national and European. Formed in pairs to carry out the Challenges, the diversity of profiles was designed to enable participants to distance themselves from their own culture in favor of intercultural cooperation based on listening, respect and benevolence. In terms of skills, the project's ambition was to move young participants from the status of learner to that of trainer, by offering them the opportunity to move from the posture of participant to that of workshop leader for the restitution event. This approach enabled them to mobilize the knowledge they had acquired to develop not only their know-how and interpersonal skills, but also their organizational capacities, autonomy and ability to work as part of a team, in a caring and reassuring environment. Lastly, a trip to Brussels was organized to provide a better understanding of the workings of European institutions and the history of the European Union. The aim of this immersion was to increase young people's knowledge of European issues and foster a sense of belonging to the community. With this project, we set ourselves the following objectives: - remove the obstacles to JAMOS' commitment - Enable young people on a voluntary mission to put into practice what they have learned. - Raise young people's awareness of major social issues - Promote the development of valuable cross-disciplinary skills and knowledge - Reinforce young people's participation in the community and society at large - Raise awareness of their role as citizens and strengthen their capacity to act - Promote encounters between different backgrounds - Spread the values of tolerance, peace, sharing, discovery and commitment to a diverse public. - Promote the social and professional integration of young people
