The overall objective of this project is to contribute to the enhancement of the skills required to increase the employment of young people in the process of transition from automation of production processes to Industry 4.0.By implementing the project, we aimed to equip them with the digital, technical, and transversal skills .Through the development and use of a Skills Benchmarking Tool, we supported participants in identifying their existing competencies and skill gaps. Additionally, we prepared Industry 4.0 Skills Set for 10 essential skills and developed a training portal. The Industry 4.0 Skills Summit, bringing together 70 participants, served as a platform to connect youth with industry representatives, discuss future workforce needs, and inspire active participation in the digital transformation of the labor market.
We applied for this project in response to a clearly identified need to better prepare young people for the rapidly changing demands of the labour market, particularly in the context of digital transformation and the transition from the automation of production processes to Industry 4.0. Across Europe, many young people either entering the workforce for the first time or already employed in early-stage careers face significant skills gaps in areas such as digital literacy, data analysis, smart manufacturing technologies, and adaptive problem-solving. Our needs analysis revealed that while young people are generally familiar with technology in everyday life, they often lack the specific technical and transversal skills required by employers in Industry 4.0 environments. The project was therefore designed to directly address these gaps by equipping young people with the knowledge skills, and competencies necessary to succeed in the context of digital transformation.
