The project had three main objectives: disability, social cohesion and sport. - It's important to highlight the diversity of disabilities and raise awareness of the need to integrate them into our society. - The social link has also guided our project and activities: the inclusion of different profiles is fundamental to being able to live together. - Sport is the channel chosen for the 2 previous objectives. At a time when a sedentary lifestyle is gaining ground, we also felt it was a priority to show and prove that sport contributes to well-being and is not reserved for certain categories of people. Our slogan: “Sport must be accessible to all”. On the other hand, the opportunity of this project also had to touch other capacities in the participants and the environment: the intergenerational link (participants aged from 12 to 62) and the intercultural link (mix of French and Spanish participants). Finally, this project enabled the young “project leaders” to develop project management skills and soft skills (adaptability, confidence, tolerance, initiative, interpersonal skills).
The needs identified in this project relate to the horizontal priority of the Erasmus+ program: Inclusion and diversity in all areas of education, training, youth and sport. The pretext and visibility associated with the Paralympic Games seemed to us to be an opportunity to raise environmental awareness of the following values: Inclusion, promoting equality and non-discrimination Bridging the intercultural, intergenerational and social divide International relations and development cooperation Disability is a word too often used without realizing its impact on the populations concerned, whether the handicap is physical, mental, visible or invisible. The aim of our project was to talk about disability - a reality - and to highlight the achievements of people who are often viewed negatively and pityingly. Our slogan: “Together, anything is possible!”, aims to integrate everyone into our project to reproduce “normal life in society” over a 12-day period (sporting activities, shopping, cooking, leisure, cleaning). Last but not least, this project was designed to help the young people involved to get to know each other better, thanks to their involvement.
