Objectives

With the 2023 Erasmus+ KA131 project, the Catholic University of Croatia (CUC) aimed to enhance further the quality framework for European and international cooperation activities that benefit students and staff professionally, socially, and personally. Our objectives included increasing academic opportunities, providing a multicultural environment, improving foreign language skills, and offering insight into international job markets through study and traineeship mobilities. We also sought to consolidate theoretical studies with practical experience, improve intercultural competencies, adopt new methodologies in teaching, and strengthen administrative support mechanisms. A key milestone of this project was the active involvement of students and staff in Blended Intensive Programs (BIP), which significantly enriched their academic and intercultural experiences. Moreover, we emphasized the importance of green travel and inclusivity, ensuring that mobility opportunities are accessible to more participants. Through these efforts, we advanced our institutional goal of creating a globally engaged and culturally aware academic community. This project also marked significant progress in developing English-taught courses, with CUC professors increasingly involved in creating new courses designed to attract international students and strengthen our global partnerships. Importantly, in 2023 we introduced a special contractual amendment to enable students and academic staff participation from war-affected Ukraine. As a result, we welcomed a student from Lviv University for a semester-long psychology program, demonstrating our commitment to solidarity and support in times of crisis. Additionally, for the first time, we conducted a comprehensive survey of all outgoing mobility participants, contacting each participant who didn't respond. To ensure higher participation and data reliability, we introduced a new provision in the mobility calls whereby part of the financial grant is disbursed only after the completion of the survey. This change will give us high security that we will have valuable feedback to improve the quality and impact of our mobility programs. Overall, the 2023 project continued to position Erasmus+ as one of CUC's most important strategic initiatives, advancing our goals of internationalization, inclusion, and academic excellence.
