In the new Strategy of Karlovac University of Applied Sciences, adopted in this strategic period, the strengthening of mobility and the internationalization of the institution are key priorities. The main objectives we aimed to achieve are: • Increasing the knowledge, skills, and competencies of students and staff through international experience. • Improving language and intercultural skills through residence in another country and study/work in a multicultural environment. • Strengthening European identity and civic awareness through cooperation and understanding of different cultures. • Enhancing the employability of students by acquiring international experience, practical knowledge, and soft skills. • Strengthening cooperation between the University of Applied Sciences and the labor market. The project envisaged student mobility for study and traineeship purposes, as well as staff mobility for training and teaching. Additionally, the project included the implementation of a Blended Intensive Programme (BIP). During the project, student mobilities were successfully carried out for both activities (study and traineeship), staff mobility took place, and a BIP was organized. Through student mobility for study purposes, our goals were to: • Expand academic knowledge in an international context. • Learn about new methods of work and teaching at a foreign higher education institution. • Develop the ability to live independently and adapt to a new environment. • Establish international contacts for future careers or further education. As the study programs at the University of Applied Sciences are professional study programs, practical training is an integral part of the curriculum. Therefore, the project included student mobility for traineeship purposes with the following goals: • Gain practical experience in an international environment. • Improve professional skills in their field of study. • Develop awareness of international standards and practices. • Increase employment opportunities after graduation. Through staff mobility, we aimed to increase the visibility of the University in an international environment and to strengthen staff competencies. The main objectives of staff mobility were: • Improving professional competencies through learning and exchange of experiences. • Applying new knowledge and teaching methods in their home institution. • Developing cooperation and networking with colleagues from other countries. • Contributing to the modernization and internationalization of their own institution. The Blended Intensive Programme (BIP) The intensive course was organized in an interdisciplinary field in cooperation with partner institutions. The programme primarily focused on multifunctional agriculture. In line with the rules, the BIP consisted of a virtual and a physical component. In the virtual component, training sessions related to cheese production were held, and participants exchanged experiences. In the physical component, training sessions, workshops, and study visits were organized on topics such as the production of cheese, olives and olive oil, figs, and grapevines and wine in various parts of Croatia. The main objectives of the BIP were to: • Develop and deliver innovative, international educational content. • Strengthen inter-institutional cooperation and the exchange of good practices. • Experiment with new teaching methods (e.g. teamwork, virtual workshops, active learning through practical work). • Enable participation in international projects. • Develop joint BIP programmes in partner countries.
