Objectives

When submitting the accreditation plan for 2023, based on the achievements of the previous year and the identified needs through workshops with youth and discussions with partner organizations, we decided to implement the activities listed below, which align with the submitted accreditation and its three main objectives. We selected a mobility focused on mental health and well-being, titled WALK THE TALK, with the goals of (1) raising awareness about mental health, (2) developing skills for coping with emotional challenges, (3) promoting healthy lifestyles, and (4) connecting with other young people as support resources. This aligns with our accreditation goal of STRENGTHENING YOUNG PEOPLE'S COMPETENCIES IN AREAS OF PERSONAL INTEREST. Another activity aimed at achieving this goal was the youth exchange STEM IN ACTION, conducted with young people from rural areas in the Czech Republic, Poland, and Romania. The objectives of this exchange were (1) fostering interest in STEM fields, (2) encouraging young people to explore and understand STEM through hands-on activities, and (3) enhancing confidence and awareness of their abilities among young people from rural areas. We planned a PDA (Professional Development Activity) in the field of digital competencies for associations and youth work, aimed at equipping NGO staff with the knowledge and skills to use digital technologies as tools for enhancing the visibility of youth associations, as well as integrating these tools into youth project activities. This aligns with the goal of STRENGTHENING PROFESSIONAL COMPETENCIES OF YOUTH WORKERS THROUGH THE ADOPTION OF MODERN WORK METHODS AND EXPERIENCE SHARING. We believe that the strength of every organization lies in motivated, locally and internationally networked youth workers equipped with sufficient knowledge and skills. The motivation for this PDA came from our partners in small rural areas in Slavonia and Baranja, where we are most active, and from other partners. Like many small organizations across Europe, we face challenges in developing our capacities, establishing a presence in communities, connecting with target groups, and increasing visibility among stakeholders at the local, regional, and national levels—tasks that are especially demanding in the early years of any organization. Sometimes, the growth of an NGO is so rapid that we lack the time to train new team members and harness their creative potential for both their and the organization’s benefit. As a result, team members may feel they lack opportunities for further development within the organization and decide to leave. Additionally, we are aware that many small NGOs, particularly those in rural areas, struggle with challenges such as limited reach or visibility among target groups, and constrained resources and human capacity. It is therefore essential to make the most of all available resources and capacities.Because of the above, we conducted a PDA with the aim of (1) Improving the digital skills of people who work with young people, (2) Improving the visibility of associations and reach (in local communities, but also at regional levels and internationally), (3) Capacity building and knowledge sharing among organizations.
