Objectives

Let's talk about stress! is an exchange for young people aged 15-20 from Croatia, Poland and Lithuania aiming to widening perspectives and exploring possibilities regarding stress management in youth. Even though young people from our organisations come from different geographical and socio-cultural background, they have a lot in common since the stress knows no borders. Our youth need high-quality activities which will empower them to take care of their mental, physical and emotional wellbeing by learning about mindfulness and different stress relief methods. Also, they want to raise awareness on the stress-related problems and issues among their peers and provide them with practical tools which will help them recognize stressors and prevent possible burnout. The general objective of this project is to improve the quality of life among young people by fostering their physical and psychological well-being. The project will be an optimal opportunity for youngsters to gain new knowledge, skills and attitudes on the topic that is relevant to them. They will learn about stress and discover tools for stress prevention and leveraging the stress level. Young people will have opportunity to learn about themselves; see their strong sides, improve their stress-management skills, and get empowered to be more resilient. Besides developing their personal competences, this youth exchange will give them a possibility to reach outside their everyday life and their communities (going out of its own “box”); getting to know other youth, cultures and way of life. This exchange will be an opportunity for the young people to discover and develop different competences through non-formal, peer-to peer learning. Besides the acquiring new knowledge, skills and attitude related to stress and personal growth through non-formal learning, this intercultural exchange will be an opportunity for the youngsters to discover, explore and develop different competencies: multilingual competence by using a foreign language both during the preparation of the exchange (youngsters will research and learn about the participating countries and make an introduction movie), and by traveling and using a foreign language during YE. Also, lingual competence will be developed through preparation for the YE within a group. Communication competence will be improved during preparation, as well as implementation phase, especially during daily feedbacks and reflection activities when they will be invited to articulate their feelings and needs, present and speak in front of group(s) and listen to each other. They will improve learning to learn competence through learning from other youngsters while being away from home in a non-formal context and taking responsibility of the own learning process, and development of their intercultural competence will be a result of discovering new and unknown European people, places and contexts. Discovering the strengths and struggles of peers in a different context will result in greater tolerance and solidarity towards the other. Digital competences will be enforced using digital platforms and tools in a safe and creative way. The youngsters will use digital technology to get in touch with each other, present themselves, create and publish a media campaign and evaluate the project. Each group will lead 2-day program. Methods used will be interactive from pedagogical-social-cultural-youth work (icebreakers, energizers, outdoor activities, plays, debate, working in pairs and in small groups, presentation exercises, different art forms, mindfulness, etc., in order to work on group dynamics and personal development of the youngsters. Each morning short evaluation/reflection time in national groups will be organised. In order to keep all participants included and safe and create time and space for articulation and expressions of thoughts, feelings, but also for discussing possible obstacles or conflict, every morning participants will reflect into their national groups (to be able to talk in their language and with their youth leader). We will reflect on the previousday program and define our expectations for a new day. Aside from the participants, the participating organisations will also benefit greatly from implementing this project. This is an optimal opportunity for sharing experiences and fostering a learning process within and between organisations, since we have none or some experience. We will discover how to plan, organize, facilitate, and evaluate a youth exchange and how this can benefit both the young participants as well as their organisations. Also, since organisation's staff have different skills and professional backgrounds, each of them will benefit from implementing the project.
