Objectives

By implementing the project "Greenycrafts - Manufactures For The Future," we aimed to empower young people with the skills and knowledge necessary to create sustainable futures in their hometowns. The primary objective was to develop green craft skills among youth, focusing on both traditional and new creative skills, with a strong emphasis on environmental protection. We wanted to explore all possibilities for developing green craft skills among young people in two main sectors. The first sector involved traditional manufactures, such as shoe repair, sewing, and bike repairing, where the focus was on reusing and repairing instead of discarding. The second sector focused on new creative skills that align with contemporary needs and materials, with the core idea of repairing, recycling, and creating art or crafts from reusable items. Given that environmental and climate protection is a top priority in the EU, our project aimed to instill these values in participants. By teaching green craft skills, we directly addressed issues of sustainability and environmental protection. The project also aimed to contribute to the fight against climate change through practices of reusing, recycling, and using natural materials. We aimed to prevent the outmigration of young people from rural areas by providing them with viable self-employment opportunities in green crafts and manufactures. By equipping them with the necessary skills and knowledge, we hoped to encourage them to stay and contribute to the rural and regional development of underdeveloped regions in the EU. In the project participated 26 participants, including 18 from fewer opportunity backgrounds. By involving these participants, we aimed to promote inclusivity and provide them with valuable skills that could enhance their future employment prospects. Our project supported the development of positive engagement with environmental protection through non-formal education and practical activities. By organizing various workshops, presentations, and hands-on activities, we aimed to provide an engaging and educational experience for the participants. We sought to discover the talents and skills of young people, helping them become active in developing potential job opportunities. The project was built collaboratively by youngsters and staff from all five partner organizations, ensuring that it was tailored to meet the needs and interests of the participants. In the European Year of Skills (2023), the project facilitated the exchange of experiences within topics of green skills, handicrafts, and manufactures based on sustainability. By organizing activities that helped youngsters discover and equip themselves with these skills, we aimed to strengthen European collaboration and enhance participants' competencies. Through these objectives, "Greenycrafts - Manufactures For The Future" sought to create a lasting impact on participants, their communities, and the broader European region by promoting sustainable practices and empowering young people with the skills needed for a greener future.
