Objectives

The project aimed to impart essential knowledge and skills in grassroots sports for people with intellectual disabilities (PwID) to young people aged 18-21 through a youth sports camp. Its primary goal was to empower these young participants to become active citizens in disability sports and to develop competencies relevant to future professional roles in grassroots sports for PwID. This initiative was driven by the need to equip youth with professional skills in sports, promote intercultural dialogue, and advance inclusion through sports activities. By offering equal access to sports, the project enabled participants to build their skills and knowledge in grassroots sports management. It engaged them in enjoyable, structured physical activities, fostering innovative and inclusive sports participation. Additionally, the project promoted positive values through sports and supported young people in developing competencies specific to inclusive sports. A core objective was to raise awareness about the importance of fostering dialogue and preventing discrimination, particularly toward marginalized groups such as PwID. The project also aimed to inspire young people to take an active role in sports by exploring diverse opportunities within the field. Ultimately, it highlighted the positive impact of sports and physical activity for PwID while strengthening the link between youth and the sports sector.
