With the project ‘Roots to Leaves’ we wanted to achieve the development or improvement of the essential practical skills, more practical knowledge referring to environmental protection and at the same time to feel connected to nature. We wanted to address the youngsters’ needs for more practical knowledge regarding the green skills, and to suggest an alternative to increasing the participants' connectivity with nature, spending their time in forest areas in simple ways of life. We specifically wanted to promote non-formal education methods, and intercultural learning between young people from different countries and encourage the participants to share experiences,to foster teamwork, and peer to peer learning. The objectives we reached were: O1. To raise awareness about environmental issues and personal self-awareness leading to practical skill development useful to fight climate change in a remote small natural environment O2. To develop new and increase existing green skills: daily project workshops in ‘green’ atmosphere – first hand practise about remote rural areas daily life utilising sustainable behaviour and sustainable coexisting with nature O3. To develop basic survival skills for preparedness and recovery in catastrophic scenarios: primitive cooking, food farm creation, discussing challenging scenarios, orientation, spending everyday life outdoors, getting to know your environment and utilise it O4. To promote intercultural dialogue and learning between youngsters from different countries, to raise intercultural awareness, tolerance and solidarity via active learning process and non-formal education. O5. To teach the participants about opportunities in Erasmus+ programme leading to strengthening the cooperation between our partner NGOs and plan the realisation of new activities in the future together.
