Objectives

Bullying is still one of the most common issue in most schools and other educational institutions. Unfortunately, bullying was always present but forms of bullying today are changing - from physical to relational which includes spreading rumors, gossips and lying about someone which is equally painful for the victim but usually harder to spot. Because young people in our institution and partner organizations have recognized the need to learn more about bullying, participants have created this youth exchange to better understand root causes of bullying, as well as how to fight bullying. Objectives of our project were: a) To better understand root causes of bullying by comparing cultural and biological perspectives, exploring differences between physical and relational violence, and understanding the role of gender. b) To explore how bullying and discrimination works by examining stereotypes and prejudices, focusing on various minority groups, and discussing the use of stereotypes in decision-making. c) To develop solutions to address bullying at both institutional (school) and individual levels, based on the insights gained from analyzing different target groups and their experiences with bullying.
