The main goal of the project "GreenIT" was to ensure environmental sustainability of youth organizations by using green organizational management practices, focusing on use of IT tools, in order to enable NGOs across Europe to use new, environment friendly, sustainable and digital approaches in their work. One of the primary objectives (SO1. To enhance the capacities of NGOs in the youth sector in the use of green organizational management practices in their work by creating specialized handbook and templates) was to equip youth organizations with the knowledge and tools necessary to adopt green organizational management practices. Establishing the "GreenIT" platform (SO2. To create „GreenIT“ platform open for NGOs in the youth sector in order to provide them with relevant information and materials to use in their work) was essential for providing ongoing access to relevant information and resources. We also wanted to drive awareness about the importance of environmental sustainability within the youth sector through social media and advocacy campaigns (SO3. To promote the use of green organizational management practices in the youth sector).
We addressed several key needs of youth organizations and NGOs, including needed skills development in green organizational management, access to resources like specialized handbook and templates and a dedicated GreenIT platform, and increased awareness of sustainability. Project promoted digital transformation through use of IT tools, fostered collaboration among organizations, and enhanced advocacy skills for environmental policies. Additionally, the project emphasized collective action and long-term sustainability planning, empowering youth to become environmental leaders and advocates. We applied for this project because all the partners are dedicated to promoting environmental sustainability within youth organizations especially with use of digital tools. Given the urgent challenges posed by climate change, we felt it was essential for youth organizations to incorporate green management practices into their operations. Project directly addressed the need for practical tools that can empower youth organizations to adopt green management practices without relying too much on external experts and the demand for accessible, centralized information on green practices specifically designed for the youth sector.
