Since its foundation in 2001, Budapest Metropolitan University (METU) has been continuously expanding its international activities with the aim of making international learning and working environments a natural part of student and staff experiences. Today, the university has an international student ratio of over 15% and maintains partnerships with more than 200 institutions worldwide, including universities from 90 different countries. More than half of its programs are available in English, further strengthening METU’s global appeal. The Erasmus+ program plays a key role in implementing the university’s international strategy. Its objectives have included increasing student participation in the program and achieving a more balanced ratio between incoming and outgoing students, as incoming mobility had previously been dominant. Promoting international internships has also been a priority, aligning well with METU’s practice-oriented approach to education. Staff mobility has traditionally been strong, while encouraging teaching mobility has remained a key focus. To simplify application and administrative processes, the university organizes events where students can gain insights and practical advice directly from their peers, thereby enhancing the likelihood of participation.
