The Eszterházy Károly Catholic University (EKCU) continued to build on its internationalisation strategy by addressing the increasing demand for both study and traineeship scholarships. For the 2023 project, EKCU initially secured funding for 23 SMS, 23 SMT, 45 STA, and 33 STT mobilities, as well as for 3 Blended Intensive Programmes (BIPs) with 60 participants. In total, 124 outgoing mobilities were planned. To further support mobility, EKCU successfully applied for additional funding. Based on the conditional decision of the Tempus Public Foundation’s Board of Trustees on 6 June 2024, the university received an extra €151,100 to cover new student study mobilities (€105,000), new student traineeship mobilities (€30,000), and €16,100 in organisational support. With this extension, the maximum amount of institutional funding increased to €463,339, supporting 58 SMS, 33 SMT, 45 STA, 33 STT, and 3 BIPs with 60 participants. Altogether, the indicative number of planned participants rose to 169, with 20% of the total mobilities directed towards partner countries. The university aimed to further encourage student participation in international mobility, recognising that financial barriers, uncertainty about credit recognition, and concerns about the impact on students’ academic progress or employment opportunities remain key factors in withdrawal decisions. To mitigate these obstacles, EKCU placed emphasis on transparent communication about credit recognition across all faculties and worked to strengthen collaboration with partner institutions through staff mobility and BIPs. By doing so, the institution sought to harmonise course content, deepen trust between partners, and ensure a smoother academic experience for students abroad.
