The "Green Education for Youth Workers" project, under the aegis of Ökográf Egyesület, aimed to empower youth workers by equipping them with knowledge, skills, and tools to foster non-formal educational activities and green practices among young individuals. Through this initiative, we sought to instigate a paradigm shift towards sustainable development and environmental consciousness within communities across Europe and neighboring regions. Our primary objectives through the GreenEdu project included: -Fostering responsible consumer behaviors and endorsing sustainable lifestyle values and tools; -Providing hands-on experience through handcrafting ateliers, enabling participants to learn by doing; -Elevating awareness around environmental ethics and culture among youth, alongside offering alternative, non-academic pathways to sustainability education; -Enhancing the capacity of youth workers in orchestrating non-formal educational endeavors focused on environmental stewardship and sustainability, by equipping them with effective, adaptable methods and activities; -Establishing a collaborative platform for youth workers to share insights, experiences, and methodologies pertinent to environmental conservation and sustainability; -Promoting intercultural learning and cooperation among youth organizations and workers across Europe and beyond, to advance the adoption of green practices. The project's success was measured against its ability to: + Advance the competencies of youth workers in championing non-formal educational initiatives, particularly those cultivating green practices among youth; + Facilitate the exchange of youth work experiences and non-formal education strategies within the realm of environmental protection and sustainability; + Broaden youth workers' understanding of sustainable green futures, transforming theoretical knowledge into actionable skills, fostering critical thinking, and enhancing their professional capabilities; + Enable youth workers to engage with local communities for practical learning and adaptation of sustainable practices observed during the project; + Introduce tested and adaptable methods and activities, including sustainability support groups in Pécs, to further enrich the participants' learning experience; + Develop youth workers' abilities through sustainability-focused workshop programs, sparking discussions on environmental issues and enhancing their creativity and critical thinking; + Strengthen cooperation and establish a unified communication platform among youth organizations and workers in Europe and neighboring areas, to champion green practices; Align with the overarching goals of the Erasmus+ program by building competencies related to climate change, promoting sustainable development, and fostering an environmentally conscious ethos both within the EU and globally. Ultimately, the GreenEdu project carved out a pathway for a sustainable future by motivating young individuals to take charge, make ecologically sound decisions, and positively impact their communities and the global environment. This initiative not only honed the skills and motivation of participating youth workers in the environmental and sustainability sectors but also broadened their operational scope, preparing them to foster a greener working environment with the younger generation.
