Objectives

The project “ICT&SM” aimed to foster the influential impact of ICT and SM in terms of empowering young individuals to engage in civic development, especially in light of the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic. In this sense, the project was realized, following certain needs and reasons: -To leverage the role of ICT and SM in terms of civic development. -To equip the youth with the necessary tools and skills needed to actively participate in community development. -To instill fresh ideas in the youth for entrepreneurial opportunities. -To have a great impact on the youth by enhancing the youth workers’ skills and knowledge on technology-related issues. -To benefit from ICT and SM for development and exploration. -To equip the youth workers with the necessary knowledge about ICT and SM to systematically get the youth, who are pioneers, involved in active development. The main goal of the project revolved around empowering young individuals’ capacity and knowledge to foster civic engagement by benefiting from the aforementioned digital tools. In this regard, the project comprised two main themes, including the active participation of young individuals and the utilization of ICT and SM. Affected by the respected activities taken throughout the project, we were able to accomplish the following objectives: 1. We equipped the youth workers with the necessary digital skills for non-formal education. Since we considered the role of non-formal education and its methodologies, it became beneficial to determine its relevance to ICT and social media. 2. We were able to comprehend the participants’ experiences regarding civic engagement. This assisted us in addressing the general issues in terms of civil, civic, and democratic development. 3. We investigated the positive role of ICT and SM in youth activism by generating new applications of ICT and solutions related to social media. 4. Our youth workers were equipped with the necessary tools and knowledge to conduct the relevant workshops and training for their target audiences in their own communities. 5. We were able to build a solid and collaborative network among all of our partners, incorporating a diverse set of partners. They coordinate and work together, sharing their experiences and insights in terms of technology utilization. 6. We were able to produce a new guidebook regarding ICT and SM in the local community for the local audience to benefit from. In conclusion, the main goal of “ICT&SM” revolved around building a welcoming atmosphere where the youth workers could improve their digital skills and knowledge of ICT to get the young individuals engaged in civic development and develop innovative applications related to ICT with a focus on developing social networks.
