Objectives

The aim of the project was to promote the reintegration of women with large families and long-term unemployment into the labour market, with a special focus on supporting mother entrepreneurs (“mompreneurs”). This was done by providing entrepreneurial skills, introducing role models and creating a supportive environment in which participants could gain confidence and motivation to find their own way. Our aim was to collect good practices to support the reconciliation of family and career, provide training, interview inspiring women and create educational material. Another priority was to launch two women-led businesses and to develop participants' entrepreneurial skills, risk-taking and awareness. It was important to ensure that an active international community of women would continue to develop after the project and that it would support its members in the long term.

Background

The Balatonalmádi Nagycsaládosok Egyesülete applied for this project because there are many women among its members who are raising three or more children while finding it difficult to return to the labour market. Due to the rural environment, inflexible job opportunities and lack of adequate support, these mothers are often excluded from economic independence. At the same time, many of them are creative, motivated and open to self-employment or business start-ups, if given the right skills and examples. The project aimed to support these women by developing their entrepreneurial skills, boosting their self-confidence and involving women in similar situations in other countries. The aim was that motherhood should not exclude them from self-fulfilment but become a source of strength. The project thus addressed a real social and economic need.
