Objectives

The aim of the project was to provide practical pedagogical responses to motivation, attention and social problems resulting from students’ excessive screen use. The focus was not on excluding digital tools, but on developing offline, experience-based learning alternatives that naturally increase student engagement and cooperation. An important objective was also to expand teachers’ methodological toolkit. During the project we developed lesson plans and games that were tested in an international environment and then finalised based on experience, resulting in directly applicable pedagogical tools. The sustainability perspective was also an important element: the activities aimed to connect students with the natural environment and community experiences while supporting the development of their social and emotional skills. In the longer term, the goal was to create an approach that can continue to be used in the everyday practice of schools and civil organisations after the project ends.

Background

The partnership applied for the project because excessive screen use, decreased attention, and weakened learning motivation are increasingly appearing both in school and non-formal education. Based on teachers’ feedback, it became clear that there is a lack of methodological tools that offer a real and attractive alternative to digital activities and support students’ active participation, cooperation, and emotional well-being. Therefore, the aim of the project was to develop offline, creative and experience-based pedagogical methods that help engage students through nature-based and community learning situations, while also strengthening sustainability awareness. For the partnership, an important need was to expand teachers’ methodological toolkit, as well as to create practical solutions that can be applied in everyday education. The project aimed to provide practical responses to these pedagogical and social challenges within the framework of international cooperation.
