The following objectives were achieved: O1. Advanced training methods, techniques and tools of partners’ staff trainers for more efficient blended education was fully achieved through the project, as the partners possessed different knowledge and experiences. The mutual sharing of these enriched the other partners with numerous blended training tools and techniques. O2. Advanced the coach training programme, that provided coaches (change agents) better coaching methodologies and tools, and helped them to run the learning process in various social environments (communities, offices). O3. Developed the improved versions of the former adult learning programs of partners to achieve impactful, measurable climate-aware behaviour change. Although the final result became three different adult learning programs due to social, economic, and cultural differences, all three programs started from a common approach and included common methodological principles: empowerment, Amoeba Theory, positive climate conversation, and a step-by-step approach (see Coach Concept).
According to numerous surveys, the population of the European Union considers climate change a significant problem and is also willing to take action against it. However, a contradictory situation has unfortunately emerged in which, the most frequently taken steps are still those that have a smaller environmental impact e.g. separating waste, cutting down disposable items consumption. Our objective was to develop an adult learning program that addresses the above-mentioned behaviour–impact gap: helps for participants to develop and integrate new behaviours and habits into their daily routines that contribute to significant environmental impact reduction. The program also responded to another need: the paralysing feeling of being ‘just a drop in the ocean.’ Many EU citizens who are open to sustainability are held back from taking practical steps because they feel alone, lack a supportive community around them, and do not see how individual actions can add up to produce significant change on larger level. The program addressed this issue as well and demonstrated concrete results to the participants.
